How to Support My Work on Giving Tuesday
Hello friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, however you chose to spend the day.
I had a lovely time with my family in Illinois, and now my husband Mike and I are away on a belated twentieth-anniversary getaway in Door County, Wisconsin. November’s News Roundup will be published a bit late, but I’m sure you all understand. :)
In the meantime, I wanted to pop on to send a quick note for Giving Tuesday. Over the past few months, many of you have expressed your appreciation for this blog and your desire to support this work. So, I thought I would offer one quick suggestion:
Could You Make a Donation to Awake Milwaukee?
A little background: When I first launched the In Spirit and Truth blog on Substack, I offered a paid subscription option, which many of you generously supported. Because my full-time work with the nonprofit organization Awake Milwaukee was still taking place on a volunteer basis, these paid subscriptions provided my only income and made a big difference to our family. Fortunately, thanks to our successful fundraising efforts, Awake was able to begin paying me a modest hourly wage in September. At that point, I turned off paid subscriptions here on Substack; the compensation from Awake allows me to publish this blog in my free time without asking for financial support.
If you want In Spirit and Truth to continue, the best way you can make that possible is with a donation to Awake Milwaukee. For those of you who are not familiar with Awake, we are a growing grassroots Catholic nonprofit organization whose mission is to awaken our community to the full reality of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church and work for transformation and healing in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and beyond. We have an amazing group of committed volunteers who give generously of their time, and I am honored to lead this team as Awake’s executive director. From our thought-provoking Courageous Conversations to our grace-filled Survivor Circles, Awake is paving new paths and making a real difference in people’s lives.
If you want to learn more about Awake, please check out our website: www.awakemilwaukee.org. (You might even sign our Open Letter to Survivors, register to attend our January Courageous Conversation, subscribe to our email newsletter, or RSVP for our Advent Prayer Service!)
If you like what you see, and you want me to be able to continue publishing In Spirit and Truth, would you consider making a donation to Awake this Giving Tuesday?
Of course, if you’re not able to offer a financial contribution, you can also support my work by sharing In Spirit and Truth blog posts with others and praying for this ministry. I would certainly be grateful for these efforts as well.
Thank you so much, and I’ll see you again soon with the November News Roundup!
