Recently, I had a conversation with an elderly survivor who shared that, although she believes in God, she has struggled her whole life with one question: "Where was God when I was being abused?" I have spoken to other survivors who wrestle with this same question, trying to make sense of their painful experience in light of what they believe — or what other people say — about God.
Thanks for sharing. Some thoughts are painful to read, but yet so courageous, so powerful. My heart goes out to those who shared. Thanks for your words.
I thank you for sharing this painful experience, that includes very private items that may bring back memories I have no doubt you prefer they went away, or better yet, never happened. While I don't have a good answer to the question, "where was God when it happened," something that I've asked myself many times when reading these brave testimonials, I have to believe that He was there with you, protecting you from something much worse. I know this is not very helpful now, but we all must firmly believe that God will cure all the pain and suffering caused by endless sins, such that He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Thank you for risking the vulnerability of sharing your stories. Hopefully there’s some sense of community here, that might be of comfort to think that people are reading your stories, listening to your voice, holding you and your stories with compassion and without judgement, and that you’re not alone. You have support here. ❤️🙏🏼
